The “Live Work” Era: Why Level 4 is the New Standard

As the first generation of mass-market EVs starts to age out of their initial warranties, the “isolate and wait” approach to servicing is no longer enough.

This month, I’ve been looking closely at the transition to IMI Level 4 qualifications. Unlike previous levels, Level 4 is about the diagnosis and repair of live high-voltage components. We are moving away from simply swapping parts to actually diagnosing internal battery faults and balancing modules. For any technician wanting to stay relevant, being “TechSafe” isn’t just a badge, it’s a requirement for the complex repairs of 2025.
